12 Apostles Hotel & Spa The 12 Apostles always feels like something I've manifested from when I was a child! Watching TV as a child and seeing the 12 Apostles Hotel, I never would've imagined that one day I wouldn't only have lunches or dinners there, but host a Mother's Day high tea as well as make use of their incredible spa! Their high tea is a wonderful treat, and their service is excellent! But as a couple, what I'd suggest you do to treat yourselves is the Outdoor Bliss treatment. This doesn't take place in the normal spa – you enjoy your treatments in the outdoor, enclosed Spa Mountain Gazebos, with the most breathtaking views! After a 90-minute treatment, surrounded by the sounds of nature, you enjoy lunch and a bottle of sparkling wine. This is all included in the price! Victoria Rd, Camps Bay Hacienda Living in the city makes it possible for me to head out at the drop of a hat for a cocktail and Hacienda in Bree Street is a spot that has all the vibes, while still giving a nice, cosy feeling. Their food never disappoints, but I think I'm more in love with their Margaritas! Iron Steak Again, living in the city I can hop out at any moment and also take advantage of really great restaurants with great food, at incredible prices! Iron Steak is one such place. You can choose a steak of your preference and have them prepare it the best way they know how! The after dinner ice cream treat doesn't hurt either. 114 Bree St, Cape Town City Centre Company Gardens Cape Town is a city made for walking, and my love language is definitely: taking walks! One of my favourite places to walk through has got to be the Company Gardens. In summer, you are surrounded by geese, birds, and endless squirrels, but in winter it's like the Gardens contain all those sounds right there in the gardens, amongst flowers, plants, and trees that are hundreds of years old. Having the National Library of South Africa right next to it also warms my heart, because I'm a bookworm of note! If reading isn't your jam, then head to the café in the centre of the Gardens and enjoy a delicious hot chocolate – especially in winter. Hotel Sky Hotel Sky is a hotel with views that are second to none in Cape Town! Added to that is their excellent service and a breakfast I could eat 24/7/365! If you're more of a thrill-seeker, the Sky Hi Ride on top of the hotel makes for a nice treat, offering even more uninterrupted views of the city! 9 Lower Long St, Foreshore Egghead Diner I'm a sucker for breakfast, and in Kloof Street, there's this cute, quaint, and cosy spot that makes any type of egg you can imagine –and their coffee isn't too shabby either! Egghead in Kloof Street really brings back a bit of nostalgia. You'll recognise a lot of the items your grandma had, without it feeling like you're in a secondhand store. They have more options than just eggs, but the eggs Benedict is definitely a firm favourite. Strand Beach and Gordon's Bay Being from Somerset West, nothing makes me happier than heading to my mom's in Somerset West on a Sunday and going for a drive – first to Gordon's Bay beach for ice cream, and then for a walk on Strand beach, where the sand stretches for miles and miles. It takes me back to when my late dad would take us for drives, either during summer evenings or especially on Sunday evenings in summer. The sun would set really late, and after everyone had left the beach, you'd have it all to yourself. I also have to say, you won't get a better sunset anywhere! London's cable car is launching an incredible glass floor experience
Swaying in the wind and dangling 90 metres above the Thames, London's cable car is already one of the hairier ways of getting about the capital. But from today (June 20), you're able to book an even more thrilling way of experiencing the service. The IFS Cloud Cable Car – as it's officially called – has launched a 'Glass Floor Experience', which means travellers can see even more of their surroundings. As well as sights such as the City's skyscrapers, the Isle of Dogs, the O2 Arena and the Olympic Parks, cable car riders will be able to peer down into the murky Thames. Two cabins on the cable car service are fitted out with glass floors, and they'll open to the public on Monday June 23. Getting a go in a glass-bottomed cable car cabin won't simply be a case of turning up and hoping you get one. You'll be able to book the experience in advance, and it will cost more than a normal IFS Cloud Cable Car trip. During peak times (weekends and school holidays), it'll cost £35 for adults and £17.50 for children (age 5-15), and off-peak it'll be £25 for adults and £12.50 per child. London's cable car – previously known as the Emirates Air Line – opened in 2012 and runs between Royal Docks and Greenwich Peninsula. It takes 15 minutes each way and a regular, non-glass-bottom cabin costs £7 one-way for adults (£13 return) and £3.50 for children (£6.50 return). To get the Glass Floor Experience up and running TfL is offering 20 percent off for visits between June 23 and August 31 if you book online. You'll need code 'GFE20' to get that discount.

World's 50 Best Restaurants 2025: Here are the 14 Asian Entries
In March, we reported on Asia's 50 Best Restaurants 2025, which includes culinary giants like Gaggan (Bangkok), Wing (Hong Kong), and Odette (Singapore). But how do these restaurants stack up against other prestigious venues worldwide? Well, we now have an answer. On Thursday (Jun 19), the cream of the culinary crop gathered in Turin, Region of Piedmont, Italy for the unveiling of The World's 50 Best Restaurants 2025. Top honours went to Maido, a restaurant run by chef-owner Mitsuharu 'Micha' Tsumaru, which has been serving up some of the finest Nikkei cuisine in Peru (and the world) for 15 years now. Out of the 50 laureates, 14 restaurants from Asia were recognised – the region's top dog being (who else?), Gaggan from Bangkok, slotting in at No. 6 on the global list. Many of the entrants in the Asia's 50 Best Restaurants list are also represented, including Tokyo's Sézanne at No. 7, Hong Kong's Wing at No. 11, and Seoul's Mingles at No. 29. In a stunning debut on the global list, Bangkok's Potong slides in at No. 13, bagging it the Highest New Entry Award. Congratulations to its fellow Bangkokian, Nusara, for also making its debut, at No. 35. Having said that, we'd recommend a trip to the Thai capital if you'd like to try as many restaurants on the list as possible – the city has six entrants, the most of any Asian city. And talk about comebacks – two restaurants from Japan made a triumphant re-entry this year. They are Narisawa from Tokyo at No. 21 and La Cime from Osaka at No. 44. Check out the full World's 50 Best Restaurants list here. Chef-owner of Singapore's AMI Patisserie wins Pastry Talent of the Year Award 2025 by La Liste
If you haven't already savoured the delectable creations at Japanese dessert café AMI Patisserie – arguably Singapore's most scenic – then here's some news that should convince you to travel down for a bite. Its chef-owner Makoto Arami, an established third-generation sweets master hailing from Japan's Shiga prefecture, has just been crowned the Pastry Talent of the Year 2025 by global gourmet ranking guide La Liste, under the La Liste Pastry Special Awards. Take that as a testament to just how much his bakes are worth the calories. Chef Makoto is the only Singapore-based chef and one of the very few from Asia to be recognised in this year's La Liste Pastry Awards. In last year's edition, chef Janice Wong did our nation proud by being the first Singaporean to score the Pastry Innovation Award. Started in 2021, AMI Patisserie had humble beginnings as an online fine pastry business during the Covid-19 pandemic. After seeing fast success and a surge in popularity, Chef Makoto ventured out to start his current brick-and-mortar concept, marrying European pastry techniques with fresh seasonal Japanese ingredients. And this isn't any other Japanese sweets café, because AMI Patisserie is rooted in tsudo – a concept where desserts aren't simply meant to be the finishing touch to your meal, but rather, something to be enjoyed as and when you want, perhaps even as a meal on their own. As such, there is much emphasis placed on the whole experience of dining at AMI, and its zen, wood-furnished Kyoto-like space within the grounds of a colonial bungalow at Scotts Road is a reflection of that. Instead of being crammed in for the sake of profit maximisation, tables are spaced within comfortable distance of each other, and the floor-to-ceiling windows create an illusion of seamlessness between the indoors and the greenery outside. AMI Patisserie is located at 27 Scotts Road, a seven-minute walk from Newton MRT station. It's a stone's throw from other F&B establishments including The Bar Kakure, Iru Den, and Buona Terra. and see the full list of La Liste 2025 Pastry Special Award winners.

This Melbourne university has been named in the top 20 best in the world for 2026, beating out Yale and Princeton
When you think of the most prestigious universities in the world, the first to come to mind will probably be names from the other side of the globe. But there's one university right here in our city that is just as esteemed as the likes of Yale or Princeton. In fact, in a new global list of the world's best university, our very own University of Melbourne outranked both of those well-known institutions. Feel that city pride! The prestigious QS World University Rankings for 2026 have just dropped, revealing which institutions stand in the best stead for the year ahead. Two Australian universities cracked the top 20 for yet another year, out of more than 1,500 institutions from around the world assessed for the 2026 rankings, including 36 from Australia. The top five were pretty similar to last year, with MIT holding onto first place with a perfect score of 100, followed by Imperial College London, Stanford, Harvard and Cambridge. Australia's highest-ranked institution was the University of Melbourne, which landed 19th on the global list. While it slipped six spots from placing 13th in 2025, its overall score actually rose 1.9 points to 90.8 – thanks to improved ratings in seven of the nine ranking indicators. The uni earned a near-perfect 99.7 for academic reputation (the highest in Australia) and also ranked first in the country for employer reputation and sustainability. This university is consistently praised as the best in the country, and was also named as one of the top ten most sustainable universities worldwide last year. Just one position behind was the University of New South Wales (UNSW), which held onto its place among the top 20 universities in the world for the third consecutive year. Its overall score of 90.7 saw it drop one position from 19th in 2025, but it maintained impressive ratings for academic reputation (96.3) and ranked equal 12th in the world for sustainability. Of the 36 Australian institutions assessed, UNSW placed first in the employment outcome and international research network categories. Overall, two-thirds of Australia's ranked universities dropped in this year's rankings. Meanwhile, only seven climbed higher, including Monash University's jump from 37th to 36th. The University of Sydney slipped out of the top 20, landing at 25th, with the Australian National University and the University of Queensland also dropping two spots to 32nd and 42nd, respectively. Despite the overall decline, we think it's still pretty impressive that one of our city's universities made the top 20 worldwide. You can check out the full rankings here.
